What Is the Student Test Swapping Process?
A driving test swap is different from searching for a cancellation. Two learners who already have practical tests booked exchange their existing appointments with each other.
Our Student Test Swapping Process gives eligible OWDC customers access to additional learner-to-learner swapping opportunities. If a suitable opportunity becomes available, you will be guided through the process and what you need to do next.
You will be guided through the swapping process and the steps required to proceed. Under current DVSA rules, the learner remains responsible for making and managing changes to their own practical test booking.

Why Can This Help Intensive Course Learners?
Practical test availability does not always line up neatly with the week you want to complete your driving course. Test swapping gives learners another legitimate route to consider when they already have a test booked but would prefer a different suitable appointment.
What Our Process Can Do

Important DVSA Rules
The DVSA officially allows learner drivers to swap practical car driving test appointments with each other, but there are rules that both learners must meet.
The learner remains in control of the booking
Only the learner is allowed to book, change, swap or cancel their own car driving test. A third party cannot complete the swap on the learner’s behalf.
Both learners must already have a test booked, both must agree to exchange their exact appointments, and both need at least one of their two permitted booking changes remaining. The DVSA also applies timing, test-centre and test-type requirements.
The final swap is completed by phone with the DVSA and both learners need to participate. Full eligibility requirements are available on GOV.UK.

Can One Week Driving Course swap my test for me?
No. Current DVSA rules mean you remain responsible for changes to your own practical test booking. Our Student Test Swapping Process gives eligible OWDC customers access to swapping opportunities and guidance through the process.
Do I need to have a practical test booked first?
Yes. A test swap exchanges two existing bookings. Both learners must already have a practical test booked before a swap can take place.
Does the Student Test Swapping Process guarantee me an earlier test?
No. It provides additional opportunities when a suitable eligible swap becomes available, but an earlier practical test cannot be guaranteed.
Does swapping count as changing my practical test?
Yes. Under the current DVSA rules, swapping your appointment with another learner counts as one of the two changes you are allowed to make to your booking.
Can I swap to any test centre?
No. DVSA location restrictions apply. A swap can only go ahead where the test centres meet the DVSA location rules for both learners.
Is this the same as a driving test cancellation finder?
No. A swap exchanges two practical tests that are already booked. Our process does not scan the DVSA booking system for cancellation appointments.
